New Features

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • This is just a list of some features I'd like to see implemented. Some are major, some are tiny. A lot of them have probably been mentioned elsewhere.

    • Better invite system*
When you invite someone to a game, if you do it through the heart button, they should receive an in-game notification, instead of an email.
    • Skin/Colour Packs*
I think this would just be a good monetization scheme that doesn't require an excessive amount of work.
    • Ad Banners for L1*
Even if it was only on the main menu and not in game, it generates a little revenue, and encourages L2.
    • L2 Forum Badge
I'm not sure what the forum actually knows about are in game account, but I'd like a little star or something beside the usernames of people who have purchased L2 on the forums.
    • Achievement Medals
With the new medals, it would be cool if there were some awarded for completing certain objectives. Nothing major, but maybe completing all Tactical Puzzles, having a rating above some set amount.
    • Landscape Mode*
Sometimes my empire is wider than it is tall. The most of the UI panels scroll, so it wouldn't take that much editing would it?
    • AirPlay Integration
This is more work than it's worth, but it would be really cool to be able to have all of your info panels displayed on a separate screen, or a zoomed out version of the map. A lot of work, but I noticed some other apps I have display things differently when used with AirPlay, and it's really cool.
    • Anonymous Mode Reveal*
I'd like to see who I was playing against, and what their stats were. I'd also like to add player notes. I understand that some people would like to remain anonymous, so maybe when the game ends, you'd have the option to reveal yourself?
    • Specialist flips
When you look at your future hires using your queen, they reverse order when you are actually able to hire them. Why? There is no need to do that and it can lead to confusion if people refer to them as first, second or third.
    • Intelligence Profile Popup
In the intelligence panel, clicking any players name will open their profile, except your own. To open your own, you have to click one of your own outposts. You should be able to open your own from the intelligence panel just like everyone else's.
    • Intelligence Time Machine*
The ability to use the Time Machine while the Intelligence tab is open.
    • Video Exports
I wish the video exports stated the amount of Neptunium everyone had, instead of just their position. It would make it more obvious how close people were to changing places.
    • Eliminated Hires
When you're eliminated, you should stop accumulating hires, it just seems weird.

I realize that's a lot. Many of my suggestions are just personal ideas that likely extend outside of the scope of the game. Oh well. Ones marked with * are ones that I think could actually be useful and would benefit more people than just me.

  • I like them!
Mostly love the achievements and being able to use time machine in intelligence tab.
Sometimes I want to know more than just how long it'll take for a player to win, I want to know exactly the neptunium, production and energy limits of everyone (within my view range, obviously)

Two things I would add to this list are:
    - In game leader boards. (Maybe even new shapes for subs/outposts depending on rating)
    - Factions: Basically a Faction would be a group of players and their stats would be combined, adding their medals together to accumulate a Faction score.
There would a separate leaderboard for Factions and, naturally, there would be an in-game chat feature within your Faction.
Seeming as you can't talk to people without being in a game with them, but you also can't have multi-game agreements, there is no real way of maintaining constant communication with a friend.

    Just a few Faction features:
    Group chat with your Faction
Ability to share screenshots of situations with your Faction so they can give advice
Maybe a feature to make tactical puzzles with your Faction
    Faction games within the Faction

With regards to in Faction game, there are a few balancing issues:
Factions could match-make and stack medals.
They could help each other in games.
They could give screenshots of the other side of the map.

To counter these problems, there would be a few rules with Factions:
You cannot join a game that contains another Faction member.
Faction games cannot contain any outsiders.
Faction games do not earn any medals.
Seeming as you earn no medals, Faction games don't count as games so even L1 players can play other games while in a Faction game.

I'm open to suggestions and criticism and I think this could be a great addition.
Could add a new dimension to the game, getting placed in a game with a rival Faction and such.

  • You can still talk to someone you've played a game with after the game has finished, it's just not as easy as it should be. You can always access old games, and as far as I can tell, you can still message each other even after the game has been over for a long time.

Either way, group chats are hard to achieve with larger groups of friends...obviously this would come a lot later though, not enough payers yet to start restricting who can play with who.

Also, I'm pretty sure recording and saving who you were in games with and the chat history is quite a strain. If they at least added a chat feature, they wouldn't even have to retain chat history from ended games. Not entirely sure how much people like that feature, but it is possible to relieve their servers of that strain for...less strain.

  • I doubt the chat messages take up that much server space, it's just some text files. I like having them saved because if I play a game with someone I've met before, I can review previous games and chat history.
