Pirate glitch - Navigator

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • So I am currently in a '50 outposts to win' game mode and one of the players lost all his outposts, BUT has his queen moving around with ~80 drillers, a navigator, and infiltrator.
Of this, it should be no problem because I have a pirate with over 80 drillers that I sent toward him.
Well, apparently when his navigator changes direction my pirate turns in the opposite direction and keeps going straight forever, not returning to my outpost.
There is literally no way to eliminate this guy and I have no idea what to do. We [remaining players] can't just leave him there taking the occasional outpost and floating around while trying to deal with the 5ish other players.

The only thing I can think of is attempting to somehow roll a navigator myself and another pirate in my next two specialist hires and conjure up 80 more drillers to send his way and hope they don't glitch out like the other pirate.
So here's to the next 35 hours in specialist hires...

  • If someone targeted him with a pirate from the direction he is heading, he would be forced to fight one of them, but I have a better solution. If you take all of his outposts, he won't have any sonar. That means he will have to land blind. You can use a smuggler with either drillers or an assassin, and just follow him around till he tries to land somewhere. Beat him there and he is dead. Or convince him to befriend you and attack other people.

I can't believe I hadn't thought of that. His days are definitely numbered now. Thanks man!

  • Actually he can fly around indefinitely and never land. It's a problem with the navigator. He can even juke your pirates. Basically in the current game a smart player is almost invulnerable with a navigator.

However, the best option as said is to take the territory, make him blind, then move a pirate assasin up as close as possible. When he's close to you (close enough to the pirate so that the pirate isn't juked out) you launch the pirate and then he's dead.

  • Putting a sentry in range of him would help as well. He'll slowly lose drillers and eventually wouldn't be able to take any outposts unless they have no drillers at all.
