Game mode: Auctioned Hire (7 votes)
For every hire except the first, a person must put up one of their specialists on auction (starting bid 20 drillers, promoted specialists 50 drillers which anyone can bid on for nine hours. Person selected to auction a specialist is set by predetermined order. The winner then must exchange a gift of drillers to the person with the sold specialist, and no other player may capture or interfere during this process including the origin and receiving outposts. The movement of the pay and sale must happen one hour after the bidding period. If an auction happens between two allies, the driller and specialist transfer still has to occur. If no one auctions within 9 hours, the auctioneer retains their specialist. Winner of the specialist is determined by the highest amount at the end of the nine hour period, announced in alternate public chat (a "private" message addressed to all players like in ESG 01). Random map, Mining Victory. Will be set up as 10 player game, and start with an 8 hour setup as a 8 player game.

Ok so I'm going to do my job and ask all of the questions I can think about for the rules.

1. Why does only one person auction at a time? I understand that it could be confusing to have 10 auctions running at a time, but perhaps 2 or 3 would work nice. It would give more variety, as well as allowing people to auction with closer players. I know that I'm not likely to buy a specialist if it won't arrive at my outpost for 24 hours.

2. Are bids voiced in public chat or in private?

3. It says players may not interfere with the transaction including origin and receiving outposts. Does this mean that I can not launch an attack against the outpost that just gifted away 20 drillers? Or is it just that I can't take the outpost if it already has a gift headed to it? Am I allowed to take the outpost right after the gift arrives?

4. Who determines which outpost the gifts are sent to? Is it just the closest one? What if I'd rather send my driller payment to the centre of their territory so it's far away from me?

5. What if you have no specialists to auction, or all of your specialists are involved somewhere? Can I send my General into battle while people are bidding on him? If I did, would the defending player have to let me win?

6. Can I auction off a specialist if they will be killed/captured before the bidding ends.

7. Why do I have to be first. :P

8. Do assassins and saboteurs have to be auctioned in pairs?

9. Can I auction off one of my three current hires? For example, if I can hire a princess, pirate and inspector, do I have to choose one, and then auction it, or can I put up the hire set for auction, and whoever wins gets to choose which one they want? I personally think you should have the option to auction your hire set, or just one specific specialist.

10. You can auction off any specialist in your possession right?

Well, that's all the potential issues I can see arriving.

Also, I didn't get a link.

1. One person auctioning is mainly to prevent confusion, as I imagine chat will quickly fill up.
2. Bids are in alternate public chat (basically a private message with all players in it). Type bids as such: "25 drillers for [specialist]"
3. You may not attack any outpost which is receiving either auction drillers or auction specialist. However, this is not to be exploited by using an auction as a way to prevent an enemy from attacking. The receiving and sending outposts must be announced in the auction chat, and determined by these steps: (1) Not likely to be attacked by an enemy before or during the transaction, then (2) closest to the auction partner. Please leave an hour after an auction hire has arrived before impact of an attacking sub.
4. The Auctioneer and winning bidder can choose at their own discretion as long as both agree. The Auctioneer has priority of destination if no consensus is agreed upon, but if that's the case, the winning bidder can intercept the auctioned specialist by pirate (but no other players may).
5. If you do not have a specialist to auction, any player may volunteer to replace them (and their spots on the auction list are swapped). If no one volunteers, all auctions will be paused for 18 hours, at which point the the same player must auction their newly hired specialist. Do not auction any specialists currently on a sub, or which are on outposts currently being attacked. The defending player can call out any discrepancies if that is the case, and the offending player must change their auctioned hire.
6. The auctioned specialist must be alive all through the bidding process.
7. Kingtwyf1 volunteered to go first, so I will replace your spots.
8. No, they can be auctioned separate, but for a starting bid of 10 drillers instead of 20.
9. No, you can only auction already hired specialists, for the sake of keeping track of bids and avoiding clutter (imagine seven players bidding on all 3 possible hires, that's at least 21 bids to keep track of!).
10. You can auction all specialists except your Queen. You may not auction captured specialists.
Sorry, I will resend you the link.

Tw is in his domination tournament game right now, although I think he'll be eliminated soon. But I don't know how he'll be able to play this game fast enough to start the second round.

Game is starting in 24 hours, regardless of whether or not tw2000 is in it (for whatever reason, the PM is stuck in Outbox, perhaps tw2000 has his inbox full?)
That said, if anyone has read the rules and wants to join, here is the link to the game: http://subterfuge-game.com/play.php?312 ... 421312a0d9
