Ranked Games on the Rise

I recently looked at th open games tab. There were 18 open games, and 15 of them were ranked. Is that a good thing? I think it's showing that more L2s are playing, but it could also show that there's a whole lot of L1s that fill up non-ranked quicker. Anyone know which one it is?

It says there are over 1000 games being played right now. But in the lobby, there's only like 20 or so open games to join - and those games are often open for days before filling up. How does that make sense?

I am not sure, but there used to be much more unranked games then I am seeing now. Not sure for the reason, I usually try to keep a good balance of ranked and unranked games, since ranked games tend to be much more stressful and playing 15 ranked games at once is pretty much a heart attack waiting to happen.
