As many of you, I joined the game as soon as it was launched (thanks to pockettactics).

After a few plays, I decided to team up with some former allies I met on the road and climb the echelons together.

I achieved to be in the first 50 but became increasengly uncomfortable with the "preset ally" idea.

Sometimes your ally is the one you would normally attack, sometimes mistakes made in a former game reflect to the present one, sometimes you start to get tired of the relation - and the most important: it takes out a lot of the thrill and excitement.

So my last 3 games were without "preset allies" and I really enjoyed them more. The price to pay has been a drop of some 200 places in the ranks, but I don't really care.

So, I am starting a poll on this and would like to get your views.

By "Lone Wolf," I assume you mean, "Enter a game without intending to ally with any specific players and try to play as if I don't know anyone."

I voted "Depends". I never go in a game with the intention to partner up with someone. If there's someone I played with before as close allies, I will probably say hi and have an easier communication in the early game. Discussing shared borders or early agressors, things like that.

But I can't remember ever ending up with the same ally til the end. One person I have in mind is Umpusten, we played in 3 games together I think, we always had nice conversations, but there were always other alliances built early in the game. So he's probably the only person I would like to partner up with some time, because every single other time, it didn't stick.

So it depends, I will go in a game fresh, kind of like a lone wolf, but it would be an illusion to believe that I don't let past experiences influence next encounters.

May I finish by saying that I'm glad you stopped joining games with predetermined alliances? I understand the fun this brought to all of you, but it gives a disadvantage to all other players in the game, who have to build alliances and trust over the first few days. Thank you for giving them a fair shot now, and putting yourself in a fair starting position as well. :)
