Moral Dilemma. Opinions Please

1. 10 player neptunium game. I made a three-way pre-game alliance with sky and purple.
2. We agree to fight brown. Brown is aligned with pink.
3. Sky makes a mine within 15 hours.
4. I fight pink and brown nearly alone for two days as sky now has too little drillers to help fight. I do not know what purple is doing. I rely now on a new friend, beige. He gifts me many drillers to help fight pink. Without him I would have lost.
5. Sky now has built up more forces and provides funding to me purple and beige, as well as orange and olive on the other side of the map. Purple and sky finally launch on brown. I do not have much left. Brown gifts EVERYTHING he has to pink. Sky and purple swoop in to clean up what little brown has left. I continue to fend of pink. Beige continues to help me.
6. Sky and purple finally come to my rescue and help fight pink. Pink dies. The game is almost over. If I stay peaceful with everyone who I was aligned with (sky purple and beige), I take 4ths place. I decide not to attack any of them and I'm content with 4th. Sky will take first. Purple second and beige third.
7. I review how I came to fourth place. I attribute beige to a lot more of my success than purple and sky. I do something controversial. I voluntarily let beige take one of my mines. It was my idea, not beige's. I will still place fourth. But beige will now place first.
8. Sky is livid with me. He says I betrayed our original alliance and I am a backstabber. I can no longer be trusted. I tell him that his early mine hurt me and was selfish of him. My argument is that I put reliability, helpfulness and selflessness above any pre-game alliance that was made. He lets it be known that I can never be trusted again.
