Although I've never confirmed someone I've been playing against is multi-boxing, I've had a few occasions where I've played against an alliance that was pre-formed before the game began.
I've emailed the devs about the occurences I know about, and again when I saw the same 2 players join into another game that was about to start, but I've received no reply from them.
When I saw the open game with the pre-made alliance in it, I was tempted to join the game and let all the other players know, but there was only 1 slot left in the game and so if I joined it would have started and I didn't want another game on the go.
I know that it was against the rules, but when I went looking for it, I found that it, and the rule regarding multi-boxing, are commented out in the rulebook now:
- Code: Select all
<br><h1>CODE OF CONDUCT</h1>
<ul>
<li><b>NO JERKS:</b> Harassment, hate speech, abusive language, and any other unsporting behavior is not allowed.</li>
<!-- li><b>NO MULTI-BOXING:</b> Players are allowed to have multiple accounts, but may not play in the same game with more than one of them.</li>
<li><b>NO PRE-FORMED ALLIANCES:</b> Players may not come into a game with the intent of playing together as a team.</li -->
</ul>
So I don't know now; have they just thrown up their hands and said it's OK?
You could say it's unsporting behaviour, but I don't think the devs care anymore. I'm only joining team games from now on, because none of my friends play Subterfuge, and otherwise I'll always be entering a game, talking to other players, but I can't know I won't be betrayed, but for all I know every other player in the game knows exactly who can't betray them.
