Create Testing games?

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • So the devs are open to some changes - but they might not know what the effect will be on a global player base!
I suggest that if possible, a (temporary) L3 security clearance is created that allows those players with the pass to create and join games in which the new modified specialists/gameplay changes are added. Only players with the L3 pass can join, which can be gained via a code in the forums (after reading what the changes will do), or handed out by the devs themselves.
Then, after a time period (one month?) the testers will report their experience and the devs can choose what changes to keep and which to discard.
Obviously these games won't be ranked.
    Opinions?

  • I like this idea. This sounds similar to the competitive beta pass in TF2. In TF2 you get to play the beta mode and report your experience to the developers of the game. This is a fantastic idea for subterfuge because the developers get more money, and we get more content.

EDIT: After thinking about this for a while, I think it should be giving to trusted members of the community. If it's pay, any can join and may not give reliable information about the changes.

  • I'm willing to help test.

Agreed. I don't think that buying a temporary pass would work that well. Like nojo said, random people buying it and playing the games just for fun when the purpose is to see how it works out/research wouldn't be fair, IMO. But it does seem like a really cool idea

  • I'd be willing to help.
I think it would be great if Radio and Bangerz helped too, since they're top players

  • 10 or 8 players seems like a good amount to test. Have one game going on to test balance issues.

Here's my idea of who should test (please don't get offended if you aren't on my list)
    The new mods
    1) Nojo
    2) Road
    3) JD
    Three top players
    4) Bangerz
    5) Radio
    6) ??
    Four trusted community members
    7) Panda
    8) Math
    9) TK (he's the person who wants the balance changes most)
    10) Menace

  • What about the whole TKvsTW debates? Would the latter want in?

Possibly. I just didn't know if the devs would want to have a L1 players in the testing, as amazing as he is.

    I am offended.
