Dual/triple accounts

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • This is getting more and more annoying and has been happening in around 50% of my games recently. Can't we do something about it? I propose a medal for "Suspected dual accounts" or something, maybe after so many from different L2 accounts they could be kicked from the game?

Seriously it's getting to the point where I'm considering doing it myself just to level the playing field. Totally distorts the game...

  • Hello qohen!

Yes,multiboxing is very annoying. People aren't supposed to do it, yet sometimes they still do. However, a 50% multibox I rate seems very high. Accusing two accounts of multiboxing can be very harsh. If it is true though, you can try to contact the devs to do something about it. Alternatively, you could post the names here, and see if anyone on the forums recognize and can confirm/decline your accusations. It's maybe not the best way to handle it, but it could be done.

Otherwise, just try to make alliances with other people in the game, and see if you can beat the multiboxers. Good luck!

  • Hello! Yes it is annoying, and a very real thing.
Here are some things you can do to help combat it

    A) Rally the troops!! Make a group chat with everyone but the multiboxers. Tell them that you suspect players X and Y of being the same person and you want to make and alliance to end those cheaters
    B) If you have L2, join a ranked game. Most Mulriboxers are L1, so they simply won't have access to that game.
    C) If you want to, you could hop into a game with one of us. I can't list all the names here, but If you recognize a name hop into a game with them. We are one less person you have to worry about multiboxing, and if somebody is using two accounts, we will take action.

I'm sorry your experience of this great game has been tainted, and hopefully we can help! Godspeed.

  • Thanks for the replies! It definitely hasn't soured my experience of the game as a whole, and yes some good ideas there to combat this. I'm actually playing a game now where the troops are rallied against them!

Another quick idea, I don't know if there's any more time being put into development or not now, but team death match would be pretty cool :)

Thanks guys, and Noel!! Keep subbing!

  • About your team death match...

Although I don't think it'll be truly implemented into the game any time soon, the forums do have many special rules games you could join. The Subterfuge: Civil War (starting soon) is basically a team death match.

There's many games around, you just gotta find them ;) :D

  • To a degree I cast multi-boxers and multi-game alliances into the same batch; they both enter a game with a preset team with no chance of betrayal within the team, and no-one else knows about their alliance until it's too late.

I recently started deliberately entering the lobbies of games with players I know to be multi-game alliances, and then telling all the other players about it, and launching an immediate attack on the closest one of them. I don't care if I get eliminated (which is likely, as it's often 3 or 2 v me), and initially I think a lot of players are hesitant to believe me or join in, but I'll get there.

So, if you see me in a game lobby, you can be sure that either
    a) I'm in a team game
    b) I'm in a game and have no idea if there are multi-boxers/game alliances, or
    c) I'm in there to attack a multi-game alliance and could use your help.

  • I've done that a few times too. I've never come out the victor in the end, but I've been able to kill off multiboxers a few times. In fact, I don't think I remember seeing those 2 multiboxers anywhere after the second time I did that. Maybe my mission was accomplished :D

  • Agree with Nojo and Math here.

Perhaps it is because I only play in rated or forum organized games, but it seems to me that the extent of multiboxing in games is greatly exaggerated. If you wish to avoid it, buy L2! It also has the wonderful benefit of supporting this wonderful game!

Multi-game alliances are a completely different problem, in my opinion. They are sometimes irritating, sure, but they are still beatable. However, as I said in a different thread somewhere, in the game I played with Lord Akkrand against a pre-set 3 man team, that "team" did quite poorly and I won the game.
    Diplomacy is a powerful tool.

That said, I agree - if you see a few players always in the same games...bring a few of your friends in there, too. Make initial peace deals with them, then stab them in the back immediately.
Subterfuge is also a powerful tool.
