Specialist - Immobilizer

Icon: Snowflake
Type: Defensive

Action: After sub-to-sub combat, the attacked sub remains stationary for an hour, unless the opponent also has an Immobilizer onboard.

Text: You can't win the war by standing around.

Differs from a saboteur in that the attack force, instead of being diverted and potentially coming back stronger, is directly delayed to allow defensive preparations to complete.

C'mon, it's a nifty concept.

Huh... I assume you get two when you hire? I like the overall concept but 1 hour feels short for using a single hire.

I would say that you should get 1, have its combat priority as the lowest of them all (whatever number that is) but have it return with 2x speed after it hits the sub, like what a pirate would do

This would be very very powerful when paired with a second one. You would be able to infinitely "stun" an attacking sub by waiting till the last hour to send it out.

Haha yeah, I thought of that after I posted. That would be pretty OP

Yeah, the stall time is up for discussion. Maybe 3 hours would make it more viable as an expendable defense

At the moment, he just seems like an inferior saboteur, since you only get one and saboteurs can stall for at hours in the double digits. Yes, saboteurs can cause drillers to come back stronger, but that doesn't seem to be that big an issue (unless the opponent has a king).

What if the immobilizer had a martyr blast so that all subs around him froze? Or maybe he just sits on a base and has the ability to completely freeze all subs in his bases sonar range for so many hours.

How about this...

If the sub the immobilizer is on has a conflict the immobilizer's sub continues on its path as if no conflict has occurred. The opponents sub however will always capture the immobilizer only, as if it was a specialist on a zero driller sub, and the opponents sub is delayed for an hour. The opponents sub acts as if combat has taken place and if for example is a pirate will reroute to back to the nearest outpost held by the opponent or continue otherwise will continue on its trajectory.

Sounds powerful in some circumstances right? Like protecting the queen from an assassin (which a revered elder could do), or just slowing the assault for an hour. Seems weak as it could be lost with a single driller thus not great at stopping saboteurs on assaults?

As it is easily lost and really only shines in sub combat it could have another perk which would probably make it very powerful, make it halve (or stop?) rival factory production of drillers within its sonar range and have it stack. This would make it very valuable on the border, good for enforcing a DMZ and make whoever has one quite hated.

As a potential promotion;

Specialist - Jammer
Icon: Radio tower with jagged halos

Action: Hides information when on a sub or outpost about shield strength, driller numbers or specialists held.

Text: "He who controls information controls the world", "The one who lies best wins", "It's not about having good cards but about playing poor ones well."

The actual idea behind directly stalling the sub is because death subs usually have navigators and other potent specs aboard. A Helmsman/Engineer/Thief stalled by an immobilizer would gain you that much more time to smuggle over more drills or an Assassin or units of that caliber, while Nav subs would not be able to reroute as quickly, leaving them more open to Pirate counterattacks.

I meant to throw that in the OP, but forgot.

Excuse me for necro thread

Maybe 6 or 8 hours would be better.
