What if global specialist had a limited radius.

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • Not sure if it was ever mentioned before but then kings and admirals wouldn't be as much fun :P

  • I remember talks of setting them like diplomats. Only subs within their sonar range are affected. It would be interesting, and it would make princesses so much more powerful. It also means that any time you put them on a sub they are very ineffective.
Zyxe? Now that is a name I haven't heard in a long time.

  • Interesting idea, i don't like it though. It basically grounds admirals because when they are in transit they have no sonar range and can't affect anything. Tycoons become a lot lot less powerfull (kinda the idea though).

  • It would certainly make the king much more interesting to use. Usually you just keep them all at home base, because they eat up all the shields, but if you had to move them to be useful, they would make them much easier catch.

Minister of defense (Is that his name? Promoted Inspector) at first seems like he got made almost useless, but I actually think limiting his range could make him more fun as well, because you can stack up three or four and be almost invincible. You'd have to spread them out where you need them most.

I think this would actually be really interesting, it would force the player to strategize a specs placement and reduce the overwhelming force of some of the promoted specs. The only problem I foresee is like Nojo said, the admiral becomes almost useless. Maybe give him a range that can travel with him? So even if he's on a sub, subs within his range are boosted.

Actually, this could be even more interesting, with a promoted revered elder that can cancel out the effects of all enemy promoted specs within it's range. I really want to play a game with this kind of thing now.
I'm highly suspicious of your motivations.

  • Woahhhhh a promoted elder that cancels out global effects within its range. I love it. It would probably be complicated as hell to code, but that would be badass.

So the chancellor? An old specialist idea. Let's see if I can dig up the thread....
    Edit: Found it. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1510&hilit=Chancellor

  • It's very simple. Then they wouldn't be global specialists.
