Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

For anyone who has played the board game "Seeland," or knows its market phase, it will be easier for you to understand. In any case, I'll try to explain how I would envision another hiring system:

Imagine a circle with 12 spaces, with random offensive, defensive, and other type specialists evenly distributed in that respective order. Duplicates are allowed. A marker is placed at 12 o'clock. Above the clock is a bar with 1 more boxes than players (so 11 boxes in a 10 player game) in the game.
All players' colors are represented by a dot on the left-most box.

Now, a random person is chosen to go first. He can take the first specialist to the right of the marker (going clockwise) for free. However, if he were to choose the specialist 2 spaces away, he would have to move his dot one box to the right. If he were to choose the specialist 3 spaces away, he would have to move his dot two spaces to the right and so on
The marker lands on the chosen specialist, and that specialist is given to that player's Queen as their hire. The spot which the marker left is filled by a specialist of the offense/defense/other type category.
People, in a preset but originally random order, continue this cycle every hour. (for a 10 player game, time is adjusted for smaller games). If a person misses their turn, they are skipped and an extra turn is saved up for the next cycle.

Once a player's dot has moved to the last box, he may no longer skip specialists and must chose the one directly to the right (going clockwise) of the marker. However, once all players have left the first box, that box is replaced all the way to the right, allowing the person on the formerly las box to gain a skip (being that he is now at the penultimate box).

If you want to promote instead of hire, your turn is used but the marker doesn't move.

What this does is make the specialist market more competitive, but still guarantees you some choice. One strategy could be to never move from the first box, making it more difficult for people in the future to get the hires they want, but at the cost of yourself having to contend with the next specialist.

I know this is a very strange idea, so I'd like to hear your input! I understand this is a weird concept, so feel free to ask me to clarify anything.

  • I think Ron and/or Noel should make LinkedIn profiles for all of the specs with fake names and as skills it should say their specialist name (assassin, pirate etc.)
The hire tab should link you to their LinkedIn page where you can see who they previously worked for etc. And you get to choose say which engineer or pirate you want to hire each still being pretty much the same except for their portraits and quotes.
    My new party trick:
I swallow 2 pieces of string and an hour later they come out of my ass tied together.
    I shit you knot.
