Is it better to survive in shame or hopelessly charge?

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • What do you usually do when it is quite clear an opponent has the upper hand and an ally offers you refuge in their territory, away from the enemy which trounced you? Do you accept their offer to stay alive and concede defeat to the enemy, or do you thank your ally but charge in against the enemy in a final effort to damage them to any extent? Keep in mind that if you chose the safe path, there will be little chance for revenge as you basically let your ally handle it, and you can support them only a little bit.

  • Charge, and not always hopelessly. You can always get some niche specialists to cause pain.

  • I like to turtle, providing the impression that I will just survive in shame, but in the end always try to make a move that ruins it for another player (sometimes the one who caused my turtling). My small bit of revenge to get my spite out, and then I can at least say I didn't survive in whole shame
But it also depends if you're looking to medal, and the situation. For example, in one ranked game I played, I had a horrible start, and everyone around me attacked from the start because I was experienced. I held off most of it, but was left with three outposts and in last. They thought I was done, and left me alone. With some diplomacy, and a lot of good strategy, I eliminated two players, convinced others to eliminate two others, and mined my way from 8th to third. Bam, medal.
It depends on the severity of the situation

  • Charge if I have decent specs, if not turtle.

  • running is not a shame at all its very strong act of survival. If possible run in most damaging way but even if everything seems to be lost stay focused on kick back.Majority is deceived that u lost coz u running or turtle.Logicaly assuming u don't mean threat.Kill him !!!

  • Survivig is always the best option, becasue it still leaves the chance to come back, even if it is a small one. Charging can be fun, but it basically means you're going to die.
I'm highly suspicious of your motivations.

  • looks like forum opinion agrees with me.
    Context for my question:
Was in a rated game, where though I had a solid start, a somewhat minor conflict over ownership of a dormant outpost led to war. I reacted too slowly and soon had the aggressor (navy) start winning against me quite strongly, to the point where I was 8th place (of 10).
At this point, player red offered to take me in as a protectorate, far away from navy.
I initially accepted, except after an "accident" involving the capture of a few key specialists of mine, I knew something was up and turned away to turtle.
It was a domination game, and although player brown wasn't first (red was), I managed to win his sympathy through diplomacy, and we held a symbiotic relationship of helping each other, eventually leading to his victory, but me still getting 3rd. Not bad at all than if I had chosen to stick with red.
Though navy's chat demeanor was offensive, he apologized after the game and even rewarded me with the tooth and nail medal.

  • 1600 rating means nothing if you're a multiboxers - you can congratulate yourself for doing just about nothing, or realise you're not achieving a thing. Like seriously, I would probably beat you in a 1v1, and I'm probably the worst player on the forums.
