Open source does sound like a way we could have more updates/balance batches but it won't happen.
1) Ron and Noel DO care. Periodically they make some server side changes, and always respond to my emails about bugs and fix them within the day.
2) It's their baby! They spent three years making this game and it came out of their pocket. I wouldn't adopt away my baby even if I knew it would never profit me and another person could make it "better"
3) They left the game how they wanted it, it has sentimental value for them and I doubt people messing with it is on their bucket list (I think)
4) i don't know anyone who has the knowledge to do that.
