Sub-to-Sub... Distance to Avoid Combat?

Hey guys,

Long time player, first time poster. I'm in a super close game and need some information. Here's the situation:

I have a sub with enough drills to win combat on the outpost I'm attacking. It's carrying a pirate, navigator and helmsman. The outpost I'm attacking has a sabateur and a double agent on it. I plan on rerouting my sub out of the line between the outpost I came from and the outpost I'm going to.

The question is this: How far out of the line do I need to be to avoid STS combat? I don't want that double agent destroying my drills, but I also don't want to add too much time to the trip for strat reasons.

Thanks!

Hello welcome to the forums.

Now to your question. Simply reroute the nav to any base(one behind the base with the sabo/da is preferable) and tap forward on the time machine 2/3 times. It only technically needs one tick of movement but With everything better safe than sorry.

I would do it sooner rather than later. Don't wait until the last 10 minutes because thats too close for a mistake. I would do it AT LEAST half an hour before, but the sooner the better.

Agree with the guys above; Sooner rather than later especially if you can't be online to check.

But if you want to leave it late to deceive a newbie, leave it no more than 6 ticks out - 60mins rather than 30mins.

(1tick redirect other outpost, 1tick redirect back to target, gives you 3 ticks buffer before final "combat" tick)

because if he's experienced he may launch EARLY on you; anticipating you'll leave it to the last minute. But if he is experienced, he'll probably bail.

Hope that helps. Hope you score a free DA or sab out of it. ;)

IMO it depends how active you are - if you're a long way away there's no reason to do it yet. Maybe they'll launch a double agent at you and then you'll get to dodge and score yourself a handy free specialist. Wouldn't leave it to the last moment though.

I actually killed myself once by doing that. I had thought I would wake up at 8am to change it but I slept in till 10 am and by them it was too late to make it back to a base I had planned to return to to do something else :P

Hey guys! Thanks for the advice! Here's how it played out: https://imgur.com/a/y25rQ

Note: This was a guy that backstabbed in a 3 way alliance and I kinda dropped everything to forcibly remove him from the game. Lost a ton of territory, but it worked out in my favor and I'm currently recapping everything I lost while my defenses were down.... And talking mad shit. Lol

He could've got out of that... Moving the Queen how he did was obviously a fatal move.
In any case, nice kill :)

Not a great queen move. Nice clean up.
