In a jam

So i started this game with pink and beige as my allies. We fought together to eliminate sky. I made peace with navy and brown on the other side. Now brown wants to hit navy and pink wants to help him. But beige wants to help navy. War between them is inevitable. I am the tiebreaker they say, do i take sides or stay neutral. If i do take sides which one? Both of my oldest allies are at war. And i cant choose sides for the first time...

The answer is in the source as always. I would pick the side dependant of their justification on moral, ethical, and legal basis under the codecs of naval law.

Whoever you trust more maybe or whoever you want to fight the least. Example Y has navigators and you don't want to deal with it so you fight the other guy and ally with Y.

Nonsense of low lifeforms. You have to apply the morals into game. If someone is know backstaber with full defence and specialists or someone who is easy target. Which one will you choose? The easy target so you can expand almost for free on cheap bases or the hard target who is backstabbing? Of course the backstaber!

Neither is a back stabber. You don't have that information and you don't know what treaties any of them made. If someone is a back stabber you would trust them less and be less inclined to help him which somewhat covers the "moral code". If neither is a backstabber than you can go a strategic route based on whatever strategy and whatever agreements you made. I been attacked many times based on a nonsense of a morally gullible person falsely believing in 2 people's concocted story that I back stabbed them when I was just chilling turtling in my starting bases which happens in subterfuge.

Some of the funniest thing in subterfuge for me is not necessarily the betray but the misinformation one can spread :P.
