Electricity

  • I am having a hard time figuring out the mechanics of how electricity works. I get that if you have more miners than output that production of miners stops, but is there another way to increase electrical output OTHER than simply taking a power plant? I know that you can convert Outposts to Mines, but it seems like you should also then be able to convert Outposts to Power Plants.

I basically ran out of power on the second day and have been stalled ever since. While I can understand if this was a tactical choice on my part, it seems unbalanced that it was not because of my choices, but simply a "luck of the draw" feature.

  • there are specialists that increase electrical output, like the Minister of Energy, but mostly it's based on how many generators you own. taking over another player's city also makes a huge difference because cities are like 3 generators and 3 factories rolled into one.

The electrical output is there to force players to do something. If you sit and do nothing, you waste your resources after a certain time. So you're encouraged to create mines, get into fights, or just take over generators.

The world creation is very balanced between the different players, and everybody has very, very similar outposts surrounding their cities. Also, different maps will have different ratios of factories and generators, so in a world that is short in generators like this one, you really want to fight for them.

But yes, it's probably one of the hardest concepts for new players to understand and adapt in their first game.

  • I thought the limit was really low. I understood I needed generators based on the rulebook, so I made an aggressive dash for them. I still max out very quickly even after throwing my drillers at Noel. I had to make treaties with basically everyone else around me just so I didn't have to garrison all my generators.
