how to convey a story of subterfuge?

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • hey y'all,

as we're gearing up toward launch i've started shifting some of my focus toward raising awareness of the game leading up to launch. one of the ideas we had was to have players tell the story of their game "live". meaning, each day, each player tells the story of the last 24 hours from their perspective.

the hope is that people will be able to follow along, watch the story unfold, and read about it from multiple perspectives.

anyone have thoughts about good ways to do this? other feedback?

and more importantly, anyone interested in setting up a game like this try it out? i'd be happy to help set it up, and would definitely want to amplify the signal by spreading the story via our twitter and blog.

  • I don't have any good ideas for implementing this, but I'd love to participate in such an experiment if anyone gets it started.

  • A story like this for example ? : http://gamasutra.com/view/news/226675/1 ... erfuge.php

This is the review wich made me play the game (with the video trailer of subterfuge, the smartest teaser ever made)

If it's that kind of story you want to write, i'm in !

  • yup, that's the kind of thing we have in mind, except one day at a time.

we're also trying to see if we could implement some in game feature to make this easier... stay tuned.

  • I think it would be cool and could take part in a game.

In my last game, against Pmoney, I was thinking of exporting the video and slowing it down to show my thinking through my moves as he (and Goonbee with Dane69) slowly hunted and destroyed me.

I thought I had some pretty smart moves until I felt the full weight of an enemy hypnotist picking up a ton of eliminated specialists.

Just take a look at these Sentry's!

  • I'd be interested in helping with this. I'm not sure where I would start... but I could give it a try.

  • Ahah, so much sentries ! :D

Ron : we could simply create a special section on the forum
It will encourage people to participate more i think, and btw, a forum is a good place to share this kind of stories ^^
So, the video export should be a priority to helping develop this project

  • yeah, we're currently looking into ReplayKit, a new feature available in iOS9 that will allow players to screen capture video from within the game (while recording commentary at the same time) and sharing it on social media. we'll keep you guys posted, but if it works out it could be the perfect thing for this type of daily episodic update story.
