A thought on cosmetics

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • I've just got to the halfway point of my first game and I am enjoying it very much. I wanted to see if anyone had thoughts on different earn able or purchasable cosmetic packs for the subs/outposts&backgrounds?

I think it would be a nice touch to be able to change up your backgrounds and outposts to look like, say, space and planets. And there could be different earn able sub sprites that you could show off to others.

  • One of my favorite games, Outwitters, did something like this. If nothing else, it's an alternative revenue stream for the game. Is it worth the effort? I honestly don't know.

  • I'd say if it is on the post-release list, it'd be pretty far down. There are quite a few things that need adding (widescreen support, finer control of time w/o the use of timewheel, highlighting of events on the timewheel when you select them). I would say that having the ability to change the colors of the players would be nice, it's hard to tell the difference between certain browns so I have to zoom all the way out to see who's who sometimes.

  • I agree we need a way to manipulate time while checking leaderboard/production/sub arrival.

I think changing colors would be detrimental sometimes since it is easy to say 'red' 'brown' 'pink' and if some one changed colors it may cause confusion.

  • True I suppose. I guess it'd be up to the person who chose to change them, to remember what they changed to/from.

But again it'd be hard to say "green" because there's like dark green, light green, and like a tan-ish green and then a regular tan and brown. They all look fairly similar, and that's 4 colors that are like that - and that are hard to distinguish from a "deserted"/unoccupied outpost as well.
