Can somebody explain the subsplosion?

So I've noticed in a number of game recordings that players at various points just launch huge numbers of one-driller subs from one or more of their outposts, aimed at almost every other outpost on the map. Is this like a death cry thing (subterfuge equivalent of 'gg')? A masking-your-movements thing? Something else entirely?

Either way it looks pretty cool I have to say :D

They can be used to bounce Navigator/Pirate combos around the map... or to fend off Martyrs.

Maybe they are just making pretty designs?

In the broadcast game, Braxo used something like that to fake me out.
But that was perhaps the most genius play I've ever seen in the game. Ordinarily, if you see someone launching 1-driller-subs everywhere, it's 'cuz they look cool.

I've seen someone do that, and I think it's in order to 'stop' saboteurs/double agents (and maybe some other specialists). That said, a Lieutenant or General does render such a stream kinda useless.

When I've done this on a much smaller scale, it's to gain visibility of what is on the outpost and the type of outpost it is. Sometimes, you just need to know :-)

Is there a report that you get after the sub hits the target that shows the battle info and type of outpost?

Subs don't provide any line of sight for exactly this reason. Imagine the spam.

No report unless that 1 driller manages to capture the outpost and give you sonar.
