Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • Is there some reason why the Devs choose this to be a mobile-only game? I mean, PC versions would be a very interesting addition to the game. I do understand that it would take a lot of effort to program and so on, but I feel that being able to download the game from the internet or play it online would mean more users and more potential for the game. I like the thought of Subterfuge on computers. Bigger screens, easier communication, more shortcuts, faster loading time and so on... :)

  • You wouldn't get notified when something happens and you are no tony our pc. You can't react quickly. Your phone is always with you and if something happens you can immediately react, no matter where you are.

  • I was hoping Bluestacks (PC android emulator) would solve this problem. Unfortunately it suffers from the same bug some other android phones do where the screen starts black and it never loads. I'm hopeful a future build will resolve this and allow this as an option.

@kinc4id - for me I don't mind the notifications on my phone and will always have the app installed, but the game really does destroy my battery. Being able to issue orders from the PC and save my phone would be helpful.

  • You are right. Didn't thought of the possibility to play the same games on multiple devices. This way it totally makes sense.

  • I was actually thinking of this in a different sense, possibly with an MMO version on the PC, similiar to a League of Legends-type setup. Just increase the speed of the game by say 120x (So an hour is now 30sec), and a game is roughly 90min.

doesnt that defeat the purpose of this being a week long strategy game?

By virtue of removing the "week long" part, yeah.

But actually. Part of the reason this game is so great is because of all the time in between actions. I don't know about everyone else, but in those 12 hours between launching a sub and seeing the result, the paranoia is gradually increasing. I start thinking of ways my ally could screw me over, or my enemy could pull a massive counterattack, etc.
I don't think 5 mins is enough for all that.
But maybe the 90 min game would bring something else to the table? I don't know. I'm sure it would be a very different game though.

  • Perhaps there would be a gamemode to set this, you could have different time controls like standard games (10 days), 'rapid' games (8 hours), 'blitz' games (1 hour), and maybe even 'lightning' games (10 minutes), which would be more of a reaction test than a thought-out game.

P.S. I got the names from chess (standard, rapid, blitz, lightning.) hahaha

EDIT: Actually the lightning one would be really interesting. The tables would be turning quite often and would take about 5 seconds :P
