Martyrs: when it all goes wrong...

Was in a game where I was fighting on two fronts. The guy to my north fired off two long range martyrs at me...

I wondered what the catch was, the sting in the tail, the fly in the ointment...then I realised there wasn't one. I set up an intercept on both martyrs, to coincide with them both passing his frontline (to me) bases...

I did feel bad, it was a newb mistake, but I guess it's how we learn...

Last game, me and Ally A had a chance to use a martyr to devastating effect. It turns out that me and my ally's outposts were a perfect line through 2 of the mines that enemy B had built. With no pirate in sight, we put should have put our plan into action.

I would've sent the Martyr to my Ally's outpost. He then would send a detonating sub at the precise time that the collision would occur over enemy B's two mines. With my intelligence officer at my base, the explosion would eclipse both of his mines.

We waited to long however. We wanted to hit him when he had more Np, but by the time he had hoarded enough. A pirate was sitting at his base. T_T

Why did you wait? As far as I know there is no NP loss when a mine blows up. Or is there another advantage I don't see?

I think on the whole we thought it was a pretty mean thing to do. Enemy B was also a mutual acquaintance of ours. If this happens to me in a pug, I will record and upload for sure!
