Blurry text/font in communications

Running Subterfuge on a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini with Android 4.4.2 and the communications messages font appears to be blurry.

Additional note: If I pinch zoom, the font becomes perfectly clear. But as soon as I let go of the pinch, it zooms out and returns to its original blurry state.
