Security Chief - defends, loses and escapes.

This may not be a bug, but I think it should be. In my opinion, either a specialist is involved in combat, or he isn't... he can't be both.

In the video, It shows 100 drillers attacking an outpost with 39 shields (thanks to a security chief) and while the attacker wins, the security chief still escapes.

In my opinion, one of the two outcomes should have occurred

1) The security chief participated in battle, the 39 shields should have destroyed 39 drillers, and the security chief is captured, or
2) The security chief did not participate in the battle, the shields would have reduced to 30, therefore killing 30 drillers, and the security chief escapes.

Looks like your opponent had a diplomat outside of your sonar range.

I don't think so. The security chief escaped together 25 drillers. A diplomat would send the security chief alone and only after the outpost is taken. Not right before like here.

Yes I perfectly understand what you mean delphaeus. I have had players do this to me as well, where they leave just before I arrive, then their specialists are still present, but the subs launch right after I attack. Once I had someone move their queen just before I arrived, the outpost still had the 40 shield, but their queen escaped, and they could retake their outpost with much less drillers. It just doesn't make sense.

You're right, it seems like the security officer is with one foot standing on the outpost (to keep shields up) and with one foot standing on the sub.

However, the video doesn't show that it also has 39 drllers before the moment the security chief is moving onto the sub. We'd need to know if the shield count was more 10 minutes before the moment you're capturing.

I'm a little bit confused, but I made another video which shows a lot more before and after.

edit: google drive is having issues, uploaded it directly to youtube instead

My guess would be that when the Devs programmed the game they probably programmed specialists who were on a launching sub still at the outpost. Only after they launched were the specialists not actually at the outpost anymore.

You can do the same thing with a global King promotion. The shields stay up for one turn before collapsing and you still get the King bonus - so for one defence only you can have your cake and eat it.

But then the specialist would be captured. The start of the sub happens in the same tick as the arrive of the other. I guess the order in which the game checks whats happening is wrong. It looks like it's going like this:

1. Fleeing sub departs.
2. Attacking sub arrives.
3. Combat takes place.
4. Effects from fleeing specialist get disabled.

But 4 should happen immediately after 1 unless you say that the security chief improved the shield and it doesn't go down immediately just because he leaves the outpost. Would make sense in a way but I don't think this is intended. If it were, the shield would go down slowly and not completely one tick later.

Actually I also meant to say that the Devs programmed for any subs to immdiately launch (thus ignoring the 10 minute timer) if an outpost gets captured.
For your ordering thing it should be like this
1. Fleeing sub plans departure.
2. Attacking sub arrives.
3. Combat takes place.
4. Outpost is lost
5. Fleeting subs launches immediately and thus effects from fleeting specialist get disabled.
