In the specialist guide, it's said that capturing a Queen converts it into a Princess. Given that I haven't actually captured one myself, maybe it's just me not understanding the mechanics. I noticed that in one game a player captured a Queen and it appeared to be only captured and not converted. Is it something that needs to be redeemed by your current Queen?

You need a hypnotist to actually take control of the queen, at which time it should convert to a Princess.

Although I suppose it would make sense for a captured queen to immediately convert to a princess since there's no other option for it be moving forward... except for vanishing into the watery aether after too much time has passed without capture.

the description says "acquire" not "capture". it's still a little ambiguous, but bottom line, czechcongo is right, a hypnotist or double agent are required to acquire rather than just capture.
