This is a bug.. I suggest you make a separate chat with all three people in, and then see if that fixes the problem.

I've had this happen to me before too. It's really annoying and your chat will have to go to both people from what I've experienced.

Well it seems to have stopped now, I have no idea what fixed it but that was one weird experience.
