I think the situation is as follows. The enemy sent 20 with a specialist on board. When the 40 hit, the sub lost, all drillers died and the specialist onboard was captured, headed for the closest base of the capturer. If it is the same with the outpost, from which the martyr originated, then they are on the same line, and they collide, and the martyr is triggered.

Oh, I didn't realize the 20 sub had a specialist on board. Makes sense now.
