Pirate Bugs, Glitch, Error?

  • During the game, I find that a player has sent his queen with no escort, as realization comes in, I place my pirate to the task immediately, but as soon as I attempt to target the sub (schedule), it seems to diverge its direction in a very peculiar manner. The direction fixes itself by a switch when the enemy queen goes out of sight, but it becomes too late for my pirate, returning to an outpost soon after. And yes, the pirate does reach the queen before it arrives to its outpost; the queen arrives after approx 11:44 m while the pirate reaches her by approx 10:40 Hrs, almost an hour in difference. View the link below.

Recorded video of the error: https://vid.me/QHZm

Note: Whilst targeting the sub with the pirate, the travel line kept toggling in two separate places with rapid speed, basically, going crazy, from where my finger is, and the pirate's arrival.

  • That's 100% not intended. It has to be either a bug or glitch.

Well, it hasn't happened yet, so if there was a way we could fix it.... :D
I was hoping for some admin to manually access and address the issue in the game, but I don't think that's an existing feature. It should be in case of emergencies though
Any hopes of fixing the issue in-game in my current situation?

  • Typical pirate. The pirate is a buggy mess. Idk what happened, I'd say you only have of getting it done is playing around with the time machine a little bit.
My faith has found a resting place,
    Not in device or creed;
    I trust the ever-living One,
His wounds for me shall plead.
    I need no other argument,
    I need no other plea,
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.

    A) That sucks and is definitely a bug, pirates are just overall wonky to use
    B) Sadly we don't have to access to do the admin things you dream of. Devs are gone, but not forgotten.
    C) Godspeed in your future travels
Simply put, my job here is to keep the forums afloat through any means necessary

  • Could it be the the pirate is not going to reach the sub before it leaves your sonar range?
If so, then this is just an effect of the bug that enables you to see subs after they leave your sonar range when using the time machine.

The time machine would allow you to target the queen's sub, but the game will later realise that it is going to leave your field of vision. This triggers the regular pirate glitch (pirate goes around the map until the sub has arrived, usually caused by a navigator).

I just captured Enki (an outpost that allows me to have vision of the queen's target outpost), and the hunt seems to have the same effect, no change whatsoever. I have vision of the sub and its targeted outpost, but the pirate is still targeting the line towards the sub rather than intercepting it ahead of time.

The glitch is triggered before you gain control of Enki, so that doesn't really matter.
But as previous posters already pointed out, the pirate's mechanics are bugged in multiple ways and are unlikely to ever be fixed. It usually helps when you have a backup plan in case he fails to do his job properly.

With all due respect, why does a bug forum still exist?
It's obvious that this game is still played by many, and the community hasn't abandoned it, but is it really abandoned by the devs? Or sadly, already was?
My apologies for asking a question that some may find disturbing, but I feel the necessity to know the answer.
I won't abandon the game, probably never will for a terribly long time, and in the future, if experienced enough, I may be willing to help in fixing it. Only if I was able to, hopefully.

  • The bug forum does have few good reasons to still be alive, yes. I guess it's just for sharing what you've found, and seeing if anyone's seen the same thing before. There's been times where one person found a bug, and a different person had the exact same thing and knows a way to counter it. Or, sometimes a bug isn't really a bug, just you overlooking some tiny error. But with real bugs, there's not too much you can do, I guess.
