As much as I enjoy how friendly you two are, I believe our good friend would much rather get some help with his problem.
The game warning you about being connected on two different devices is just a default message that appears whenever the game has a problem that might cause it to crash, it works as a safety net. It appears to basically everyone who plays Subterfuge, and the game doesn't truly think you are on two devices.
As for your exact problem with specialists, I don't believe I quite understand what you are describing, but here is my best shot. If you are clicking on the icon at the bottom of the screen and it isn't refreshing correctly, try hiring directly through your queen by clicking on the queen specialist icon and selecting a specialist from the top of the screen. That is how I usually do it and I have not had any trouble.
