Layout Communications screen on iPhone 4

When I type a communication message which is long enough to grow the text area, it will grow up and under the receiver icons. The "public chat" button and the other player icons are above (and blocking) the text.
This is on an iphone 4, so the screen isn't as high as the newer iPhones, which I think is the cause of this problem?
Please let me know if you need any more info. (Screenshot, etc.)

After sending the message it text is the following screen is also way to high and over the back button and "to <receiver>" text.

Pasting multiple lines of text will also trigger a layout issue.
This is when sending a reply.
The pasted text is up too high. (Text is 4 lines, only see bottom 2.)
The text area is only filled at the top, the bottom half is empty.
This seems to fix itself by typing an extra character.
Then the text drops down and looks correct.

that whole panel will be replaced soon. not saying the new one will be bug free, just that it's not worth fixing these bugs right now.
